Banjo Makers of Excellence - a series of 3 of the best from around the World - Part 2 Jaroslav Prucha

Luthier of Excellence, Jaroslav Prucha.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Prucha Bluegrass Instruments is located in Prague, Czech Republic.

Jaroslav Prucha learned to make banjos during 15 years of working in the Stelling factory in USA. After the Russians left his homeland he returned to establish his own company.

Many American-made banjos have parts made by Jarsolav Prucha and his associates. When you purchase a Gibson banjo, chances are that the Presto tailpiece, the flange, stretcher band, hooks and nuts are made by Prucha.

Hopkins banjos, Tony Pass pot assemblies and many other well-known names in banjos are using Prucha resonator flanges and stretcher bands. They are some of the best parts being manufactured today.

The Prucha Bat Custom

The Prucha Bat is unique. It has quilted cherry resonator, ebony fingerboard with pearl bat motif inlays and double-cut headstock.
This particular instrument shows the Stelling influence in the top tension stretcher band and flange design. New, this instrument would cost approximately $11,500 AUD including shipping and tax.
